Whilst agents can be invaluable in some instances because of their local knowledge and contact base, there's actually a lot you can do without seeking the help of a middle man. As you mentioned, auctions are great places to bid for plots, but you'll find an even bigger selection online. There are numerous websites that contain huge, accurate databases of land for sale here in the UK, and they're well worth checking out - it'll give you a good idea of prices and availability if nothing else!

To Roger, sorry this is late, but wanted to let you know the installation manual for romastone states in capital letters not to install in a sunroom – sounds like the expansion issue was known in advance. Hoping if someone else reads this they will then have that info to go on.
